Now without getting to far into this, lets point out the obvious. Performance at Superspeedways and finishes are 2 different things. For example, Keselowski led a race high 42 laps in the 500 only to be taken out in the last wreck and finish 22nd. Stenhouse Jr ran majority of the race outside the Top-15 to go on to win the race.
So we will look at all the overall performance during the 65th Daytona 500, not just the finishing position to point out our Top-5 drivers to watch at the next 3 superspeedway races. (In no order) Aric Almirola - Good ol Double A won his Duel and then went on to have an average running position of 8.47. Aric has 2 of his 3 wins, one on each SS track to his credit. Aric was fast in qualifying and is usually a sleeper pick at this sort of racing, but one to keep an eye on for sure. Brad Keselowski - Bad Brad showed exactly why you should never count him out on SS tracks yet again. Leading a race high 42 laps with a second best average running position of 8.575, Keselowski ran 1-2 with teammate Chris Buescher for a huge chunk of the 500 and the duo were poised to go toe to toe with the RCR duo of Busch and Dillon for the last 2 laps of the race until the caution came out with 2 to go. Chris Buescher - Chris is a sneaky pick as well for the superspeedways, 3rd best average running position behind teammate and Co-Owner Brad Keselowski at 9.212 and leading a second most 32 laps, Chris showed us all he could take a push and lead the pack with ease. Chris scored his second best Daytona 500 finish in 4th. Joey Logano - Although Joey did not have quite the impressive runs the first three drivers in this list had, Joey is almost always there at the end of these races. With his position averaging 11.33, Joey ran about 3 spots behind the first 3 for most of the race but finished far ahead of most in 2nd leading 12 laps netting his 7th Daytona 500 Top-10 in 15 starts. That's pretty damn impressive. Denny Hamlin - Denny.. Who would possibly leave one of the best Superspeedway drivers on his time out of this list? 11.495 Average running position only to be taken out in the last caution to finish P17. Hamlin led 6 laps and ran up near the front most of the race. Hamlin should never be counted out. Major Honorable Mentions: Kyle Busch, Ricky Stenhouse Jr, Austin Dillon By: Tom Luttermoser Image: Brad Keselowski

Tom Luttermoser"Being a NASCAR fan since the mid-90s, I've seen my sport go through immense changes, from Earnhardt to Gordon, Gordon to Johnson, Johnson to the "Big 3". Petty's 200 to Busch's 229*. I've seen 2 generations of racers and 4 generations of racecars. I've seen the peak of the sport, I've seen the loss of a legend. I can, in fact say.. This is the greatest time our sport has seen since its golden era and it will do nothing but grow from here. We talk about the Golden Era, The Modern Era. I think, We're entering the NEXT GEN Era."
