2013 Whelen Modified Champion, 2x Camping World Truck winner and 2x Xfinity winner has been a reserve and sim driver for Stewart-Haas Racing this year, even getting some pretty good racing opportunities in all 3 series even Winning at Nashville for the second time in a row for David Gilliland's truck team. I spoke with Ryan at Michigan, asking him about future plans in 2023 and he told me week by week the races are not yet planned and that he had nothing for Cup or '23 at all. About a month ago we started hearing that Team Co-Owner at SHR Tony Stewart wanted Ryan to replace the horrible performing Cole Custer in the 41 Ford Mustang in the Cup Series. Wednesday morning it was announced that Preece would in fact get that opportunity. Ryan Preece will field the #41 Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing in the Cup Series in 2023 replacing Cole Custer. Custer will go back down into the Xfinity Series in a second SHR car. Up until Wednesday morning, no one knew if it was going to happen because of Custer's family ties st SHR. but this morning we find out "No Bullshit" in Preece's announcement that second chances don't come often, but he's here to win. On The Morning Drive with Mike Bagley on XM channel 90, Preece said that there are no major changes coming to personnel on the 41 team. He does however have no plans to run his Modifieds at all next year.

Tom Luttermoser"Being a NASCAR fan since the mid-90s, I've seen my sport go through immense changes, from Earnhardt to Gordon, Gordon to Johnson, Johnson to the "Big 3". Petty's 200 to Busch's 229*. I've seen 2 generations of racers and 4 generations of racecars. I've seen the peak of the sport, I've seen the loss of a legend. I can, in fact say.. This is the greatest time our sport has seen since its golden era and it will do nothing but grow from here. We talk about the Golden Era, The Modern Era. I think, We're entering the NEXT GEN Era."
