Sitting here in the Media Center @ MIS, "That Jones Boy" Erik Jones driver of the legendary #43 PettyGMS Chevrolet presented a check for $20,000 to the Melanoma Research Foundation through the Erik Jones Foundation. Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer that plagues 87,000 new cases annually and especially common in those ages 60+. Jones own father passed away not too long ago of the disease after only 4 months. Jones held a charity event at Birch Run Raceway May 19th and I asked about what it meant to him to present the check here at his home track. He said he is proud to present the check here at his home track and stated, "It's ovbiously rewarding for our own group to be able to do this but it also just feels really good to do it here back home." He added that the the people working on the foundation are from here, (forgive me if I missed, misspelled or added a name) "My mom, Brett, Nichole, Bryan Berry, These are all people who live in Michigan and work really hard on the foundation , put a lot of time and effort in just for the reward to do something like this. It's pretty cool to have everybody here who helped put this first donation together" If you would like to learn more about Melanoma or how to help, go search up the Erik Jones Foundation and the Melanoma Research Foundation PLEASE.

Tom Luttermoser"Being a NASCAR fan since the mid-90s, I've seen my sport go through immense changes, from Earnhardt to Gordon, Gordon to Johnson, Johnson to the "Big 3". Petty's 200 to Busch's 229*. I've seen 2 generations of racers and 4 generations of racecars. I've seen the peak of the sport, I've seen the loss of a legend. I can, in fact say.. This is the greatest time our sport has seen since its golden era and it will do nothing but grow from here. We talk about the Golden Era, The Modern Era. I think, We're entering the NEXT GEN Era."
