It appears that after long last the rumors of Dodge making an attempt to re-join the NASCAR circuit have been true per Adam Stern of the Sports Business Journal. It is no secret NASCAR has been aggressively pursuing a fourth OEM (original equipment manufacture) for years since Dodge's departure from the sport in 2012 and rumors have swirled a bit for OEMs such as Honda, Dodge and even Audi. But as referenced today in his article, Adam states that Dodge's hopes have stalled. Although no specific reasoning was given, it is common knowledge that after the 2023 Model year, Dodge will not have a gas powered car in their lineup with the discontinuation of the Charger and Challenger. Plus not to mention the creation of a new NASCAR program would be an extreme cost to Dodge's parent company Stellantis who acquired the brand in 2020. This crushes any hopes of a return of Ram to the upcoming Craftsman Truck Series or Dodge to Xfinity or Cup in 2023. There is the potential for a future entry, but it now seems less likely. Obviously as fans of the sport, we all hope to see the addition of not only 1 single new OEM in the upcoming years and the electrification of the sport in the next several years including the addition of the All-Electric exhibition series as leaked by kickinthetires.net earlier this year could potentially bring that to fruition.

Tom Luttermoser"Being a NASCAR fan since the mid-90s, I've seen my sport go through immense changes, from Earnhardt to Gordon, Gordon to Johnson, Johnson to the "Big 3". Petty's 200 to Busch's 229*. I've seen 2 generations of racers and 4 generations of racecars. I've seen the peak of the sport, I've seen the loss of a legend. I can, in fact say.. This is the greatest time our sport has seen since its golden era and it will do nothing but grow from here. We talk about the Golden Era, The Modern Era. I think, We're entering the NEXT GEN Era."
